GSMA Announces Mobile Innovation Global Award Competition Top Innovators

Stellar line-up of speakers from Coca-Cola, Visa, Walt Disney and Yahoo! attend inaugural Americas event

May 2008, Atlanta: The GSM Association (GSMA) has announced the Top Innovators for the Americas leg of the 2009 Mobile Innovation Global Award Competition, along with additional, high-calibre industry speakers at the Mobile Innovation Marketplace – Americas, which is being held in Atlanta, Georgia, 3 – 4 June, 2008.

The Mobile Innovation Global Award Competition was created by the GSMA as part of the Mobile Innovation Market, which encourages breakthrough technology, applications and services in the mobile industry by bringing together smaller companies developing innovative mobile products, industry investors from leading venture capital firms, and senior figures from mobile operators and leading global brands.

Winners of the 2007 SurfPort Awards

01/24/2008 -- At a gala celebration held last night in Stockholm, winners of the 2007 SurfPort Awards – the Nordic and Baltic region's best mobile content services for SurfPort – were announced. The winners were chosen from six different categories.

"Those of us on the jury had great fun, but an extremely difficult task selecting the 2007 winners," says Indra Åsander, Head of TeliaSonera's mobile content services for the European region. "It has been tremendously exciting to see so many excellent, creative ideas within the area of mobile content services," she says.

Best newcomer – the prize goes to the Norwegian bank, DNB.
During 2007, DNB Mobile Banking Services introduced a complete line of banking services designed for a mobile platform. By doing so, they proved that it is possible to provide these services in a way that is both safe and user friendly.

Best service for user-generated content – the prize goes to Moblogas Impartner from Lithuania.

O2 and Mobile Interactive Group shortlisted at 2008 Mobile Marketing Awards

Best use of mobile in events' and 'Best use of mobile in brand building'

January 24, 2008 -- O2 and Mobile Interactive Group (MIG) have been shortlisted for 'Best use of mobile in events' and 'Best use of mobile in brand building' at the 2008 Mobile Marketing Awards, for delivering a host of next generation mobile interactive services at The O2 - The world's first fully interactive venue and interactive brand experience.

David Wheldon, Global Director of Brand at Vodafone and Chairman of the Judges commented on the calibre of the entries, "When we launched the awards in 2005, we saw a number of small brands trying out the channel for the first time with pretty rudimentary campaigns. It was encouraging but clearly there was some way to go. This year, the 80 plus award entries came from some of the world's biggest brands and the campaigns were multi-faceted and sophisticated. Mobile is now very much part of the marketing mix."
