Telenor has entered into an agreement with Tele2 for the acquisition of its subsidiary Tele2 Denmark for a price representing an enterprise value of DKK 835 million. "The acquisition of Tele2 Denmark enables us to secure the number-two position within both broadband and mobile in Denmark," said Morten Karlsen Sørby, Head of Telenor Nordic.

Tele2 Denmark has, as of year end 2006, 227.000* mobile customers, including 100.000 post-paid subscribers, 75.000 broadband customers, 206.000 fixed-line customers. This acquisition boosts Telenor's Danish mobile market share from 23,3 to 27,3** percent and broadband market share from 10 to 14 percent.

"Our Danish organisation is performing strongly, and this acquisition is a tool to ensure continued progress," said Morten Karlsen Sørby, Executive Vice President and Head of Telenor Nordic. "To be successful in the telecom industry, you need to secure sufficient size and this acquisition is an opportunity to further utilise scale advantages in mobile as well as broadband in Denmark and the Nordics," said Morten Karlsen Sørby. » read more »

Tele2 divest Tele2 Denmark to Telenor for approximately MSEK 1,025

2007-05-09 -- Stockholm - Tele2 AB, ("Tele2"), (Stockholm Stock Exchange: TEL2 A and TEL2 B), Europe's leading alternative telecom operator, today announced that it has sold its Danish operations including fixed, broadband and mobile businesses to Telenor. Telenor will pay in cash approximately MSEK 1,025. Completion is expected end of June following approval from Danish Competition Authorities.

Tele2 has built a strong operation in Denmark. However, as the market evolves and competition increases it has become evident that there is a need for a more infrastructure based approach both when it comes to broadband and mobile services. Hence, Tele2 has decided to exit Denmark and continue with the strategy to concentrate its operations to markets with expectations of higher returns. » read more »

TDC and RIM introduce the BlackBerry Pearl in Denmark

TDC Mobil and Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) have launched the BlackBerry® Pearl™ smartphone in Denmark, expanding the portfolio of BlackBerry® models available to TDC customers.

The small, smart and stylish BlackBerry Pearl is ideal for mobile professionals looking for a powerful, compact and lightweight smartphone in a traditional mobile phone form factor. In addition to popular and proven features such as phone, "push-based" email, text messaging, organizer and other mobile applications, the BlackBerry Pearl also includes a digital camera, media player and an expandable memory slot.

Like other BlackBerry smartphones, the Pearl is much more than just a mobile phone. The unique “push-based” BlackBerry email services give users synchronised access to both personal and corporate email accounts, with attachment viewing of a wide range of popular file types. The BlackBerry platform is also optimized for wireless efficiency with data compression that results in lower data usage and longer battery life. » read more »

Tele2 Signs Agreement With TDC On Access To The Swedish Mobile Network

Tele2 has signed an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) agreement with TDC. This means that, as an MVNO lessee, the Danish operator has gained access to Tele2's GSM and 3G networks in Sweden. It is expected that the agreement will come into effect early in 2008 and have a validity term of five years.

- Competition is good both for consumers and for the growth and development of the industry we work in. Our agreement with TDC means that Swedish users of mobile telephony services are now offered a new alternative to choose from and that Tele2 will make increased profits on their current assets, says Niclas Palmstierna, CEO of Tele2 Sweden.

In the past, Tele2 has granted leases for its Swedish mobile network to Spring Mobil, Ventelo and Telenor and it is looking forward to opening up its network to more operators.
