Huayu Communications Selects Altera’s Zero-Power CPLDs for Portable Handsets to Be Used During 2008 Summer Games

San Jose, June 23, 2008 — Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) announced today that Shenzhen Huayu Communications Technology Company Limited has selected MAX® IIZ CPLDs for use in its new P1200 portable handsets. Chosen for their ability to quickly and securely implement new features and capabilities while consuming minimal power and board space, Altera’s MAX IIZ CPLDs manage several peripherals in the P1200 handsets, including a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) reader, an Infrared Data Association (IRDA) sensor, a Bluetooth interface, and LED control. The P1200 handsets made their debut during the Hangzhou public transportation system’s bicycle project in May 2008, and in August, they will be used for ID identification, logistics, and public transportation services for the Beijing Summer Games.

GSM-R Wireless Staff Communication and Signaling Optimize Train Performance

January 29, 2008 -- BEIJING – China's Ministry of Railways (MOR) has gained powerful communications and train management capabilities for its busy system after selecting GSM-R mobile communications railway technology from Nortel* [NYSE/TSX: NT]. The highly secure wireless network provides new communications capabilities between trains and ground staff along the 510 km high-speed passenger line between Zhengzhou and Xi'an.

With fast trains traveling at speeds of up to 350 km/hr, conventional mobile networks are not reliable enough to depend on for critical communications. Shanghai-based Plant to Assemble and Test Flash Memory Chip Packages for Use In Mobile Phones

SHANGHAI, PR CHINA, Sep. 27, 2007 – SanDisk® Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK), the world’s largest supplier of flash storage card products, today announced the opening of its production facility in Shanghai, the company’s first in the People’s Republic of China. Based in Zizhu Industrial-based Science Park, SanDisk Semiconductor (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. (SDSS) is expected to play a critical role in SanDisk’s worldwide operations as the plant will focus on the assembly and test of its advanced flash memory products for mobile and other consumers in markets worldwide. SanDisk’s worldwide operations function will also reside at the Shanghai facility. The announcement was made today at a press conference held at the facility.

The new SanDisk manufacturing plant produces a flash memory-based chip package called System-in-a-Package (SiP), which is particularly valuable in mobile phones where there is limited space due to their small size.
