Wireless Provider Aggressively Expanding Service Nationwide

Cellular One from Dobson Cellular Systems – an independent provider of wireless service to rural America – today said its “2007 Network Fast Track” plan will expand its coverage for thousands of the customers it serves.

Under the strategic plan developed and implemented by Cellular One’s Network Quality Assurance Team, by end of the second quarter the company will turn on 75% of its new cell sites that it will build this year.

“Fast Track gives us the ability to hit the ground running in 2007,” said Timothy J. Duffy, Chief Technical Officer and Senior Vice President. “We will add as many new cell sites in six months as we would have added in nine months. The result is better coverage, fewer dropped calls, increased capacity and an overall enhanced wireless experience sooner for our customers.”

Circuit Switched Data, often referred to as CSD, is the original form of data transmission developed for the TDMA-based mobile phone systems like GSM. CSD uses a single radio time slot to deliver 9.6 Kbits/sec data transmission to the GSM Network and Switching Subsystem where it could be connected through the equivalent of a normal modem to the PSTN allowing direct calls to any dial up service.
