CTIA-The Wireless Association Reminds Consumers to Recycle Used Wireless Devices

In celebration of Earth Day 2007, which will take place on Sunday, April 22nd, CTIA-The Wireless Association® and its member companies remind consumers to recycle their retired wireless devices.

“Maintaining a successful, consumer friendly recycling program continues to be a priority of the wireless industry,” said Steve Largent, President and CEO of CTIA-The Wireless Association®. “Many Americans diligently recycle glass, paper, and plastic products as part of their weekly routine. Along with these items, it’s important to remember the newest recyclable on the block…old wireless phones and accessories.”

The wireless industry began its nationwide recycling campaign called “Wireless…The New Recyclable,” in 2003. The public outreach and awareness campaign provides wireless consumers with information about the importance and ease of recycling wireless devices. The centerpiece of the campaign is an in-store phone take-back program that allows consumers to bring their used wireless devices to carrier retail outlets for recycling purposes. You can learn more about this program by visiting http://www.recyclewirelessphones.com/. » read more »

QSound Labs' stereo expansion technology now available on CSR's BlueCore5-Multimedia

CSR says it has boosted its multimedia Bluetooth technology with the addition of QSound Labs’ QXpander technology. QSound offers a powerful suite of audio enhancements for digital playback that provides a richer, more natural and immersive enhanced audio for CSR’s BlueCore3 and BlueCore5-Multimedia systems. Music transmitted over Bluetooth via CSR’s BlueCore technology now benefits from spatial stereo expansion through QSound’s QXpander audio algorithms. QSound will be demonstrating its technology on CSR’s BlueCore Multimedia systems this week at exhibition Stand 463-A at the CTIA Wireless 2007, in Orlando, Florida.

QXpander technology uses purpose-specific algorithms for maximum spatial impact on headphones and speakers. The three-dimensional spatial processing adds new depth to music playback by expanding the soundstage beyond the physical limitations of speaker locations; this expands the acoustic image outside of the user’s head when using headphones. The sophisticated enhancement algorithms are particularly effective on highly compressed audio content such as MP3 and SBC. » read more »

Three Principles of Mobile Marketing

Redknee enables mobile marketing through personalization

Redknee, a leading provider of innovative infrastructure software that monetizes and personalizes services and content for mobile operators, today announced three key principles of mobile marketing. The principles are a guide for mobile operators preparing to capitalize on mobile marketing opportunities.

Industry reports indicate that spending on mobile advertising is expected to grow from approximately $1.5 billion in 2006 to over $13.9 billion in 2011. The anywhere/anytime factor of the mobile handset is inherently direct and personal, and gives mobile marketing an advantage over traditional marketing mediums. Mobile advertising campaigns will typically directly complement digital campaigns for TV and the Internet, expanding their reach and effectiveness.

Both operators and media companies see the new revenue streams beyond the 'customer pays' model. A positive subscriber mobile marketing experience is based on permissive attributes such as personal needs and interests, privacy preferences, and situational context. » read more »
