AOL Announces New Open Mobile Software Platform

February 11, 2008 -- AOL today announced the AOL Open Mobile Platform, which it plans to make available to developers this summer. Opera Software today announced the growing momentum for its Opera Mobile(TM) Web browser on devices running the Windows Mobile(R) operating system. The Strategy Analytics Wireless Device Lab has recently released its latest end user benchmark report, "Windows Mobile Outlook Easiest to Configure: Beats BlackBerry BIS, Nokia S60 and UIQ v3.0 Email Clients," which concludes that users find Windows Mobile Pocket Outlook to be the easiest mobile email client to configure for a POP3 email account.

Achieving a 100% success rate, Pocket Outlook also outperformed its competitors for speed and user satisfaction. The BlackBerry Internet Service suffered fatal email configuration challenges, while discoverability was an issue for Nokia Series 60.
