With H.U.I. ONE launches an offensive against the fixed-line internet

09.03.2007 -- H.U.I. stands for fast as hell, ultra-easy internet and with the most modern and easiest access to the World Wide Web intends to challenge the Austrian internet market dominated by the fixed line to date. H.U.I. convinces with its first rate cost-performance ratio, full cost control, ADSL speed and simple, transparent tariffs. In addition fast decision makers save the activation fee until 9 April.

At the end of 2006 the Austrian broadband market reached a penetration rate of 42 percent. To date a total of roughly 300,000 mobile data cards have been sold in Austria. Since 1.5 million Austrian homes do not have internet access yet and more than 600,000 still surf the internet via narrow band, there still is a huge growth potential. Apart from an investment of 260 million Eurp into the most modern HSDPA network of Austria, ONE has been offering three new H.U.I. tariff packages for the mobile internet since 23 February.

Bango 2Go gives brands the fast-track to the mobile web

Eliminates the complexity and risk of launching a mobile web presence

Bango today introduced a new service, called Bango 2Go, which is a simple, cost effective way for brands and content providers to launch a presence on the mobile web. The new service – the first of its kind in the world – takes the guesswork out of participating in what industry analysts call the next internet "gold rush."

"Brands recognize the power and reach of the mobile web but have had trouble navigating the complex landscape of the mobile world," said Ray Anderson, CEO of Bango. "With Bango 2Go brands are up-and-running in just one step."

Bango has streamlined the process by combining its powerful mobile web technology with a wide range of site development skills provided by its partners. With Bango 2Go, content providers and mainstream PC brands – large and small – get mobile website building, hosting, traffic generation, monitoring and a global payment service. Brands simply visit www.bango.com to get started and Bango manages the rest:

Vodafone Announces New Flat-Rate Data Roaming Tariff

Vodafone continues to lead the mobile industry in reducing the cost of roaming in Europe

Vodafone announced that customers in Europe will be able to surf the internet, check e-mail and access their business network when roaming abroad for a flat rate fee of only €12 for every day of use. The tariff will be available to Vodafone customers with mobile-enabled laptops from 1 July 2007 and will significantly lower the cost of data roaming for business customers and consumers alike.

This move is the latest development in Vodafone’s drive to simplify roaming prices, making them more predictable and understandable for customers. The initiative draws upon two years’ experience of the voice roaming tariff - Vodafone Passport - which has already attracted over 12m customers. Following the introduction of daily data tariffs in a number of Vodafone markets last year, Vodafone is now seeking to extend these benefits to customers throughout Europe who wish to use their laptops when travelling. » read more »

Vodafone Cuts Mobile Internet Roaming Rate By Almost Half To Domestic Level

The cost of mobile data services in other countries is about to get a lot lower for Vodafone customers. Business executives and holidaymakers can look forward to CeBIT because, when it opens on 15 March 2007, Vodafone will be reducing the rates of its national and international WebSessions packages - which enable 24-hour mobile internet use without a contract or an additional basic fee - to EUR 14.95.

It now makes no difference whether customers use their notebooks to go online in the German Vodafone network, a foreign Vodafone network or a Vodafone partner network. They pay the same rate for mobile online services in foreign countries that they pay at home. That's an almost 50% price reduction that makes mobile internet via the wireless network far less expensive than many W-LAN hotspots. Vodafone customers in Germany who have booked a data option can also take advantage of the WebSessions package abroad. The number of roaming countries around the world where Vodafone WebSessions International can be used will increase to 32 in April 2007. » read more »

MATERNA allows for a quick configuration of more than 200 mobile phone types

Anny Way OTA-Server for more ease of use

MATERNA Information & Communications’ new Anny Way OTA-Server (Over-the-Air) puts an end to complicated and time consuming configurations of mobile phones. The telecommunications specialist has developed an internet portal which allows the user and the call center agent to configure the end device for WAP and GPRS settings.

The handling is as follows: the consumer visits a special web site, selects his network operator and the service he wants as well as the type of his mobile and queries the settings. The basis for this is a device portfolio with more than 200 devices, which is monthly extended by MATERNA’s Device Management by up to 10 new devices. With only a few mouse clicks and the entry of his mobile number, the customer receives an SMS that automatically configures his hardware. The service can be used immediately afterwards. » read more »

Privacy and Performance Glitches May Postpone Subscription Success

Boston, MA - March 7, 2007 - According to the latest Strategy Analytics study, "MySpace Mobile Gives Social Networking Addicts Their Fix," MySpace users had positive impressions of MySpace Mobile usability and convenience, however, study participants showed concern for privacy protection and network performance inconsistencies.

A group of "MySpace fanatics" were chosen to test MySpace mobile on both Cingular and Helio in a week-long study during which they recorded usage patterns, along with positive and negative experiences.

According to Pamela De Luca, User Experience Research Analyst, "Although most participants thoroughly enjoyed accessing MySpace mobile while on the go or in the workplace, some were stunned to discover that Helio did not protect private profile accounts on the Helio MySpace mobile service. » read more »

Opera users create 1001 Widgets

Oslo, Norway - March 6, 2007 -- Opera Software today announced another Widget milestone with the release of the 1001st Widget on widgets.opera.com. Opera users have created more than 1001 Widgets since the launch of Opera 9 last year.

Widgets are small and powerful Web applications that add unique and convenient functionality to browsing with Opera. Widgets improve and personalize the user's browsing experience, resulting in increased interest and usage for these powerful content sharing tools.

The 1001st Widget on widgets.opera.com was "The Visitors" Widget. Created by dantesoft, an active and long-time member of the My Opera community, this Widget uses site analytics from Hitslink to create visitor maps that bloggers can post on their sites.

"Widgets are a community-driven, grassroots movement," said Tatsuki Tomita, vice president of Opera Mini for Opera Software. "Hundreds of Web developers, like dantesoft, create Opera Widgets to showcase their skills at building fun, addictive and useful applications. By creating an Opera Widget, their work will be seen not only by those with PCs, but anyone running an Opera-powered device such as a mobile phone or even a TV." » read more »
