Chemawawin Cree Nation and MTS Allstream partner to provide digital wireless service to Easterville area

Investment agreement brings cellular service to community

WINNIPEG, MB, March 6, 2007 – The Chemawawin Cree Nation (“CCN”) and MTS Allstream Inc. (“MTS Allstream”) have announced an alliance agreement that will provide the residents of Chemawawin and Easterville with wireless service.

The agreement - the second of its kind for MTS Allstream - sets out a joint funding arrangement that improves the economics of providing service to the community. Without this arrangement, the area may not have had cellular service for a number of years.

The cell tower, located in the town of Easterville, was up and running on February 28. A second site, located on Highway 60 and scheduled to be operational in early April, will extend the service area and provide coverage to parts of Highways 6 and 60.

MTS employees will be in the community in March to talk about hardware and calling plans, answer questions, and activate wireless phones.

“With this alliance, we have found a way to provide our customers in Chemawawin with digital wireless coverage sooner than expected,” said Kelvin Shepherd, President Consumer Markets, MTS Allstream. “The residents of Chemawawin now have access to the cellular services and content enjoyed by other MTS Mobility customers throughout the province.”
