September 19, 2006, London – Sony Ericsson today announced the next step in the company’s comprehensive mobile music strategy, a new promotional space for breaking new and developing artists called ‘M-BUZZ’. Complementing the company’s unique music offering of Walkman® phones, services and accessories, M-BUZZ is yet another building block in Sony Ericsson’s extensive mobile music offering to music fans worldwide.
To maximize its reach the new M-BUZZ initiative will use both Sony Ericsson’s established PlayNow™ service, which has been enhanced to include full track music and allows consumers to download music to Sony Ericsson phones in just 4 clicks, and the web (www.m-buzz.com ). M-BUZZ will enable music fans everywhere to experience featured artists’ full tracks, videos, biographies, gig schedules and other content, allowing them to check out tomorrow’s stars up close and personal.Sony Ericsson also announced today that it has entered into a ground breaking partnership with Sony/ATV Music Publishing. M-BUZZ will initially showcase a limited number of artists and bands each month hand picked from the Sony/ATV’s worldwide roster. It will initially offer content for download to the phone with new commercial aspects being developed later as additional features are incorporated into the M-BUZZ space.
“Today’s announcement is another great example of the cooperative spirit that exists between Sony Ericsson and other Sony Group companies, which gives us a unique opportunity to bring appealing, innovative content to our mobile phones, says Miles Flint, President of Sony Ericsson. “M-BUZZ enables music fans not just to hear new, unsigned acts, but also to find out more about the musicians through interviews, home movies and more, creating a new mobile music experience.
“Sony/ATV Music Publishing is always looking for new and compelling ways to promote our artists and song writers, said David Hockman, Chairman and CEO of Sony/ATV Music Publishing. “This partnership with Sony Ericsson gives our musicians and writers unprecedented exposure to music fans around the world, and we are very pleased to join with Sony Ericsson in bringing this unique music channel to consumers.
“M-BUZZ is all about breaking new artists; it’s about giving tomorrow’s stars, the artists that have not yet been picked up by major record companies, the exposure they deserve and the possibility for them to reach a wider audience. Sony Ericsson is very excited to be providing this new stage and taking on a more active role in the music industry going forward. Music is about innovation, creativity and change, and with the addition of M-BUZZ we will broaden our already wide music offering even further at the same time as we are allowing people to discover fantastic new music that otherwise might pass them by, explains Martin Blomkvist, Head of Content Acquisition and Partner Management at Sony Ericsson.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Sony Ericsson to provide our artists and songwriters the opportunity to have their music heard by Sony Ericsson's many millions of global customers, said Lauren Berkowitz, Vice President of Global Digital Business for Sony/ATV Music Publishing. “When it comes to breaking new and developing artists in the digital age, music publishers are in a great position to lead such initiatives, as we frequently work with artists very early in their careers, usually well before they have been heard on a larger scale.
The first phones offering M-BUZZ will be the W850 and W950 Walkman® phones announced earlier this year and scheduled to ship in European, Asian and Latin American markets during the second half of 2006.
Artists on M-BUZZ at launch will include Kish Mauve, Embassy, Dirty Perfect, FKLV, Iggy, The Head Set, Bobby Kray, Anjulie, Lights and Monte*Rosa.
www.m-buzz.com will go live on October 2 and downloadable content will be made available, in a phased approach, in 20 markets which already offer secure full track over-the-air music download services through Sony Ericsson’s PlayNow™ service.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — 09/19/2006 -- Sprint (NYSE: S) launched today Sprint Mobile Security, which is powered by Mobile Armor and is the only security solution from any carrier that allows complete end-to-end security management for laptops and mobile handheld devices. It is a new service available in the Sprint Mobility Management portfolio, which also includes billing and device management services and is the only integrated package designed to work across multiple carriers and device and operating system (OS) platforms."Wireless security issues concern enterprise customers looking to expand wireless access to a broader range of corporate applications," said Rena Bhattacharyya, industry analyst at IDC. "Sprint Mobile Security addresses these concerns by bundling services that mitigate security risks and threats into a pre-packaged solution designed to be easy to install, use and pay for."
Sprint Mobile Security is designed to meet three major needs: data protection, threat prevention and compliance.
Data Protection
Sprint Mobile Security protects data by enforcing password policies across all devices with fixed, PIN or color-coded credentials. It also allows companies to encrypt individual files or an entire device and memory card using AES or 3DES, and the mobile VPN allows users to securely connect to the corporate intranet while on the go.
Threat Prevention
Sprint Mobile Security protects mobile devices from viruses, worms and Trojans that can infect devices and spread malware via text messages or Bluetooth connectivity. It scans, identifies and removes these malicious codes, and its firewall blocks "denial of service" attacks and restricts network traffic based on source, destination, IP ports and applications. Sprint Mobile Security can also lock and delete data on a device if the device is lost or stolen.
Compliance
Sprint Mobile Security enables companies to enforce policies to ensure that only corporate-sanctioned applications are on their devices and that government and industry regulations are being met. It can enforce more than 150 policies from a single online portal. Sprint Mobile Security also offers automatic remediation, which will update non-compliant programs or profiles automatically, without requiring user intervention. This feature simplifies the user experience and enhances productivity so that users are not locked out of applications or services.
"With Sprint Mobile Security, companies have access to the highest level of security expertise, tools and customer service to ensure complete protection for their unique and evolving enterprise security needs," said Barry Tishgart, director of product marketing for Sprint. "Companies can have confidence knowing that their assets are secure and proprietary data is protected and compliant with corporate policy."
Customer Care
Sprint Mobile Security provides multiple levels of support, allowing companies to control their mobile environment with flexibility and ease. In addition to 24x7 support from Sprint, IT administrators are also able to manage, control, edit and view their mobile workforce assets through an online Web portal with custom reporting features.
Several companies have completed successful trials of Sprint Mobile Security in recent months. For more information on Sprint Mobile Security, visit www.sprint.com/smms .
Sprint Mobile Security is the most recent example of Sprint’s leadership in managed services. Sprint received the 2005 Product of the Year Award for managed services from Search Mobile computing.com.
