Jentro presents the international version of "activepilot"

New online-navigation system runs on almost all current mobile telephones

The German firm Jentro Technologies GmbH, Munich, presented the international version of the mobile phone navigation "activepilot" in release 3.5 to trade experts at CeBIT in Hanover. Activepilot is the only mobile phone navigation which runs on virtually all current mobile phones. The online-navigation system is capable of running on around 80 different models, including bestsellers from Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, BenQ mobile / Siemens as well as Samsung. In the current version, activepilot offers - dependent on its availability in the respective country - information about traffic jams and speed controls, map navigation as well as an interactive city map for pedestrians and bicyclists. Falk activepilot currently supports German and Spanish. British English, French, Italian and Turkish will be soon available and presumably Portuguese.

Activepilot is not only the "world champion of compatibility", it is also one of the most inexpensive navigation systems on the market. The navigation set is available for 99 euros with a cable-bound GPS-receiver and for 139 euros with a Bluetooth GPS-receiver. Included are the satellite-receiver, the mobile phone software, three free routes as well as many useful accessories, such as, for example, a mobile phone holder for the car. Anyone who needs the navigation system only occasionally can navigate for 0.99 euros per route. Anybody wanting access more often to the services of the little pilot can book it as a flatrate for 4.95 euros a month.

Interactive city map

The new pedestrian mode of the activepilot functions like an interactive city map. The system shows a zoomable map of the user's current surroundings on the mobile phone display, with an arrow pointing towards his destination and a connecting line to it as well; the map moves along with the user. This new map display is also useful for car drivers. As a so-called "moving map", it can be used for navigation. In navigation mode it displays the current position and the route to be taken. The size of the map section can be chosen in five levels of detail. By a click of the button, the navigation can be switched from arrow to map mode. Entering the destination can also be done with movable cross-hairs.

Optimized operation

In the new version, activepilot provides detailed arrow symbols which show streets where you can turn even before the actual turn-off occurs.
