February 7th, 2007 -- Oulu, Finland – Hantro, the market leader for video technology for mobile handsets, further strengthened its market position in 2006 with introduction of dozens of new phone models utilizing Hantro’s video technology. “A few years ago, people were wondering whether mobile video would ever be a big thing. Nowadays, nobody doubts it�, said Eero Kaikkonen, CEO. “Currently there are more than 100 million phones in the market with Hantro’s technology inside, and volumes are increasing rapidly as our 18 existing semiconductor customers introduce exciting new IC products to the market.� Kaikkonen continued.
Year 2006 was marked with a stream of successes for Hantro. Hantro secured several new customers in USA, Europe and Asia markets and was delighted to provide existing customers with new product licenses. “Returning customers are a clear signal we have succeeded in taking care of our customers and satisfying their needs.� said Sami Hyyryläinen, Vice President, Sales.As video has become a mandatory feature in mid- and high-segment mobile devices, Hantro projects sales revenue will continue to grow for the 7th successive year. In anticipation of growing demand, Hantro enhanced its global presence by establishing a new office in Shanghai. “In order to serve our customers well, we want to be close to them. We now have offices in China, Finland, Germany, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and the USA.� Hyyryläinen commented.
Hantro will attend 3GSM World Congress for the 7th consecutive year. During the conference, Hantro will demonstrate the newest video technology on reference designs as well as on commercially-available mobile devices powered by Hantro solutions.
