O2 and Mobile Interactive Group shortlisted at 2008 Mobile Marketing Awards

Best use of mobile in events' and 'Best use of mobile in brand building'

January 24, 2008 -- O2 and Mobile Interactive Group (MIG) have been shortlisted for 'Best use of mobile in events' and 'Best use of mobile in brand building' at the 2008 Mobile Marketing Awards, for delivering a host of next generation mobile interactive services at The O2 - The world's first fully interactive venue and interactive brand experience.

David Wheldon, Global Director of Brand at Vodafone and Chairman of the Judges commented on the calibre of the entries, "When we launched the awards in 2005, we saw a number of small brands trying out the channel for the first time with pretty rudimentary campaigns. It was encouraging but clearly there was some way to go. This year, the 80 plus award entries came from some of the world's biggest brands and the campaigns were multi-faceted and sophisticated. Mobile is now very much part of the marketing mix."

Anthony Nelson, Business Development Director, MIG said, "MIG are committed to championing the integration of mobile technology at events and we are delighted to have been shortlisted for these prestigious awards. We have worked with O2 in delivering a range of mobile interactive services at events such as the O2 Wireless Festival (05/06) and we look forward to championing new technologies at The O2."

The winners of the 2008 awards will be announced on the evening of March 6th at the Bloomsbury Ballrooms in Bloomsbury Square, London.

The awards - now in their third year - attracted over 80 entries across 11 categories, which was a growth of 15% year-on-year.
