Gameloft®, a publisher and developer of video games for mobile phones, today announced it has signed a multi-year agreement with 20th Century Fox™ to develop, publish and distribute Live Free or Die Hard, the official mobile game of the highly anticipated sequel to the famous film series. The game will be exclusive to the mobile platform and will launch worldwide shortly before Live Free or Die Hard’s theatrical release on June 27th, 2007.
In the “Live Free or Die Hard” film, action star Bruce Willis reprises his role as John McClane, a heroic police officer determined to take on and neutralize terrorists at any cost. The mobile game’s storyline stays true to the feature film: a criminal plot targeting the nation’s computer infrastructure threatens the technological foundations of the U.S. economy.
“The Die Hard series has been extremely successful and we are pleased to be working with 20th Century Fox to extend the brand experience to mobile phones,” said Gonzague de Vallois, vice president, Gameloft. “The fans of the Die Hard films are literally- ‘die-hard,’ and we are eager to deliver a game that brings the action, intrigue and humor of the movie, to gamers and fans alike.”
With a large fan base that reaches back to the series’ inception in 1988, the series’ fourth installment is expected to be a major film event in summer 2007. Gameloft’s action title takes gamers on a thrilling ride in the role of John McClane, the Die Hard series’ maverick hero. The game is interspersed with intense, action-packed sequences, as well as comedic moments and witty sarcasm delivered in trademarked Die Hard fashion.
