Kineto Wireless and TeliaSonera Win Convergence World Award for Best FMC Product and Service

Kineto Wireless, Inc., a supplier of UMA technology, and TeliaSonera, a telecommunications company in the Nordic and Baltic regions, were each announced as winners of the World Convergence Award for Best FMC product or service. Kineto was singled out for its role as the key innovator behind the 3GPP UMA standard, while TeliaSonera was recognized for its innovative Home Free service, based on Kineto’s UMA technology. The award ceremony took place at the C5 World Forum at the Fiera Milano Congressi in Milan on March 27th.

The Convergence World Awards aims to recognize organizations that are making the greatest contribution to the convergence marketplace and those who are leading the way in reshaping the world of communications. Industry interest in the awards was reflected in the high level of entries, which included many from the convergence sector's leading companies.

“With major mobile operators such as TeliaSonera now deploying UMA services, it has been a tremendous year for Kineto. It is a real honor to receive this award from Convergence World, recognizing UMA’s leadership role in the FMC space,” said Rick Gilbert, president and CEO of Kineto Wireless. “I am proud of the accomplishments of the entire Kineto team in making UMA the global standard for convergence.”

The Convergence World Awards are presented by Convergence World magazine in association with the IEC. The awards are endorsed by leading industry bodies, including the Moriana Group, the Fixed-Mobile Convergence Alliance, MobileIGNITE, and the Wi-Fi Alliance.
