Sybase 365™, a subsidiary of Sybase Inc. (NYSE: SY) announced it has been selected by five leading mobile operators in the Pacific Islands to provide domestic and international messaging connectivity in to the region.
The selection of Sybase 365 by Tonga Communications Corporation (TCC), Palau National Communications Corporation (PNCC), Telecom Fiji, Soloman Telekom, and AST Telecom LLC (Blue Sky Communications, America Samoa) underscores the company’s market leadership in the region.
“Asia Pacific continues to be an important market for Sybase 365, and these strategic agreements prove that we remain the first choice for Pacific Island operators seeking global messaging connectivity,” said Matthew Talbot, vice president, Sybase 365 Asia. ”Having worked with Vodafone Fiji for similar global connectivity since June 2004, Sybase 365 is extremely familiar with the region and provides a single point of contact for the Pacific Island operators for both global and domestic messaging connectivity.”
Sybase 365 solves the complexities of interoperability enabling operators to raise the value of their international messaging by dramatically expanding their global reach-- even beyond GSM. Subscribers of these mobile operators are now able to send and receive text messages from most corners of the world, which opens a strong SMS revenue stream for Pacific Islands-operators and expands SMS services for their subscribers located in more than 30,000 islands across the Pacific Islands.
These agreements contribute to Sybase 365’s unrivaled global footprint of reaching to more than 700 mobile operators around the world, 300 direct two-way SMS connections, and reaching to over 1.7 billion mobile subscribers globally.
