Vodafone Cuts Mobile Internet Roaming Rate By Almost Half To Domestic Level

The cost of mobile data services in other countries is about to get a lot lower for Vodafone customers. Business executives and holidaymakers can look forward to CeBIT because, when it opens on 15 March 2007, Vodafone will be reducing the rates of its national and international WebSessions packages - which enable 24-hour mobile internet use without a contract or an additional basic fee - to EUR 14.95.

It now makes no difference whether customers use their notebooks to go online in the German Vodafone network, a foreign Vodafone network or a Vodafone partner network. They pay the same rate for mobile online services in foreign countries that they pay at home. That's an almost 50% price reduction that makes mobile internet via the wireless network far less expensive than many W-LAN hotspots. Vodafone customers in Germany who have booked a data option can also take advantage of the WebSessions package abroad. The number of roaming countries around the world where Vodafone WebSessions International can be used will increase to 32 in April 2007.

Vodafone customers on business travel or holiday in Germany or abroad will definitely be putting their notebook and data card in their luggage after this massive WebSessions price reduction. The prices for the national and international WebSessions packages, which include 24-hour mobile internet usage, will both be reduced to EUR 14.96 on 15 March 2007. There's no contractual commitment and no extra basic monthly charge. The maximum data transmission volume per WebSession is restricted to 50 megabytes. Until now, the international package cost EUR 28.95 and the national package cost EUR 17.95. E-mail services and access to the intranet or internet cost Vodafone customers the same whether they are in Germany or abroad. The shorter 15-minute (EUR 1.95) and 2-hour (EUR 9.95) WebSessions can still be used in the German Vodafone network.

Vodafone WebSessions can currently be used in 14 European countries outside Germany: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland and Spain.

Vodafone's WebSessions packages were designed for customers who only need occasional mobile access to their company's intranet or the internet, or people who only travel abroad infrequently. They don't need to book an additional data tariff to take advantage of the low-cost mobile online access with WebSessions. Instead, they get a specific quantity of online time at a low-cost flatrate. Users can register with their notebook in a matter of seconds. During the sessions, they can connect and disconnect as many times as they like. WebSessions - like WLAN - end when the booked time is used up. Billing is easy; either via a CallYa account, a CallNow card, a credit card or the Vodafone mobile phone bill. User-friendly notebook software is also available for the convenient use of the product.
